KS3 (year 9) short ‘Freedom’ poetry unit, studying writer’s techniques and effects and engaging with a range of poets from Emily Dickinson, to Simon Armitage, Vanessa Kisuule and Kae Tempest. Students analysed the theme of ‘freedom’ through close textual analysis of each poem and the unit scaffolded students’ writing of their own poems.

 

Here’s a brief overview of a lesson for a remote scheme of work I created for year 11 students pre-Alevel study of the Handmaid’s Tale during my PGCE placement at Clifton College.
